The Fight for Fifteen
By January 2020 the minimum wage in South Dakota was risen to $9.30.
When low-wage workers get a boost to their paychecks, those wage increases go right back into the economy as they spend more. When they spend more, businesses do better. And when businesses do better, the economy does better, too.
If elected I would work to end the practice of offering starvation wages to South Dakota workers and ban the ridiculous discrepancy for tipped workers. Everyone deserves to live with dignity and raising the minimum wage would help to pull families relying on government assistance off of those programs and give them independence and new opportunities.
